Master Data Controller

The Master Data Controller will play a key role in the migration from SAP Business One to SAP S/4HANA, with primary responsibility for the preparation, cleansing, validation, and governance of master data to ensure a successful and controlled transition. Postmigration, the role will own the ongoing accuracy and integrity of SAP master data across the business.
This position is critical to ensuring data consistency, operational continuity, and accurate financial and operational reporting throughout the ERP transformation and beyond.

Role Requirements and Responsibilities: 

  • Support the end to end migration of master data from SAP Business One to SAP S/4HANA.
  • Review, cleanse, validate, and standardise master data ahead of migration to ensure data quality and compliance.
  • Identify and resolve duplicate, incomplete, or inaccurate master data records prior to migration.
  • Work closely with the SAP project team, external implementation partners, and business stakeholders during data migration phases (mock loads, testing, cutover).
  • Support SAP data mapping, validation, reconciliation, and user acceptance testing activities.
  • Create, maintain, and update SAP master data in line with defined governance processes, including:
    • Material Master
    • Vendor Master
    • Customer Master
    • Bills of Materials (BOMs)
    • Cost Centres, GL accounts, WBS elements, and Project structures (as applicable)
  • Act as the central SAP master data gatekeeper, ensuring all requests are accurate, complete, authorised, and compliant.
  • Ensure consistency of master data across SAP modules (e.g. FI, CO, MM, SD, PS).
  • Perform regular data quality checks, audits, and reconciliations within SAP.
  • Maintain SAP master data documentation, naming conventions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Support internal controls, audits, and GDPR/data protection requirements relating to data management.

Minimum Requirements and Skills: 

  • Degree or qualification in Business, Finance, IT, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
  • SAP training or certification is an advantage.
  • Proven experience in a Master Data, ERP Data Control, or SAP Data Administration role.
  • Hands‑on experience with SAP Business One and/or SAP S/4HANA.
  • Direct experience supporting ERP or SAP migration projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of SAP master data structures and their impact on Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Projects.
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on data accuracy, governance, and controls.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with SAP reporting tools is an advantage.
  • Ability to manage multiple data streams and deadlines in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and cross‑functional communication skills.
  • Experience in engineering, manufacturing, construction, or project‑based environments is a strong advantage.
