Technical Sales Engineer

The Technical Sales Engineer (Controls) position requires both an electrical technical background coupled with previous tendering and commercial expertise. The successful candidate will report to the Global Head of Technical and Inside Sales via Technical Sales Controls Team Leader The position offers a hybrid working model with additional benefits. The Technical Sales Engineer will be responsible for the development and presentation of multi-faceted tender proposals across our Controls product range.

Role Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Analysis of tender documentation including technical electrical specifications and drawings.
  • Development of tender stage designs optimised to the Hanley Energy product range, including but not limited to EPMS (Energy Power Monitoring Systems), Distribution and Changeover Control Panels, Data Centre Cooling Application Controls, BMS (Building Management Systems) Controls.
  • Completion of pricing works and commercial model in line with company standards
  • Engagement with supply chain partners to secure valid, competitive pricing.
  • Compile tender submissions including quotations, appendices, data sheets, sales drawings, etc. in a structured, professional manner
  • Liaising with key internal and external stakeholders (e.g. clients, engineering, production, logistics, commissioning, technical sales, marketing, accounts, sub-contractors etc).
  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of controls solutions tender processes and procedures including development of templates and online tools where utilised.
  • Serve as customer point of contact, obtain missing information or answer queries.
  • Communicate both internally and externally in a courteous, professional manner.
  • Flexibility and ability to undertake additional duties as requested by Team Leader.
  • Complete annual and interim reviews, contribute to team goals and targets and see through line management tasks per company policy.
  • Stay up to date with new products and features.

Minimum Requirements and Skills:

  • An electrical engineering background is essential with either an engineering degree or an electrical trade qualification (or equivalent).
  • Proven work experience in a tendering environment or comparative experience in an electrical products sales role.
  • Be highly motivated and intuitive individual and demonstrate initiative.
  • A strong team player with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage and prioritise own workload.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Understanding the importance of meeting customer deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, competency in Office 365 applications (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Hands on experience with CRM software – Salesforce / SAP Business One preferable.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment, ability to work in a fast-paced department.
  • Flexible, willing and able to manage multiple complex projects at the same time.
  • Full valid Irish work permit and proficiency in the English language.
  • Position may require candidates to complete psychometric testing.
