Our intelligent changeover control system, Powerminder, is designed for mission-critical data center and industrial environments.
It ensures seamless, automatic transfer between two power sources (e.g. utility and generator), guaranteeing 100% uptime and continuous infrastructure availability. Intelligent, reliable, and engineered to keep your operations always online.

Think M.I.N.D.E.R.
Monitors
Provides continuous system oversight, with watchdog functions, real-time notifications, and comprehensive alarming to ensure rapid response to issues.
Intelligent
Employs Hanley Energy’s bespoke software logic for adaptive, automated decision-making and seamless integration with site infrastructure.
Non-stop
Maintains stable, uninterrupted supply to critical loads under standard operating conditions.
Detects
Proactively detects and prevents power quality issues, minimising the risk of supply disruption.
Emergency
Automatically ensures backup power is available and engaged during utility failures, protecting critical operations.
Recovery
Enables rapid restoration to a stable power source after an outage or disturbance, minimising downtime
Powerminder Monitors & Manages
The system continuously monitors the status and availability of both the primary and secondary power sources. When any parameter falls outside the acceptable range, the system automatically switches from the primary to the backup source – no manual intervention is required.
It also manages generator control and confirms when the generator is ready to supply power. Adjustable settings are available to ensure the system can be tailored to meet specific site requirements.

Product Design Features

Universal Integration
The standalone control panel interfaces with any manufacturer’s switchboard, generator, or UPS, replacing traditional ATS units and standardising critical infrastructure globally.

Scalable and Future-Ready
Designed for easy expansion and integration into larger campus or microgrid projects, supporting evolving operational needs.

Compliance and Quality
Built to IEC 61439 and UL 508A standards, ensuring global applicability and regulatory compliance.

Comprehensive Monitoring
Monitors all major electrical parameters and system health, with built-in connectivity for integration with EPMS/BMS via industry-standard protocols.

Reliability and Safety
Incorporates redundant power supplies, robust interlocking, and pre-programmed failure scenarios to maximise uptime and protect personnel and equipment.

Flexible Transition Modes
Supports both open (break-before-make) and closed (make-before-break) transitions, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of critical applications and minimising supply interruptions.

Advanced User Interface
A touchscreen HMI provides intuitive control, real-time status, and alarm notifications, simplifying operation and reducing training requirements.

Visual Warning Indictors
Door-mounted LEDs for power status offers immediate visual indication of system power states, aiding rapid troubleshooting.
Light tower beacon for remote status indication uses colour-coded lights (red, amber, blue, green) to signal operating modes and faults, visible from a distance for quick assessment.

Flexible Installation
Wall-mounted enclosure with top and bottom cable entry facilitates flexible installation in various environments and simplifies cable management.
Transition modes
Open Transition
The switchgear uses mechanical and electrical interlocks to ensure only one source breaker closes at a time. Open transition software enforces “break before make” preventing parallel connection. It confirms one breaker is open before closing the other and monitors downstream equipment like UPS units, delaying utility reconnection when needed.
Closed Transition
In contrast, this mode allows both breakers to close simultaneously if conditions permit. Mechanical interlocks are omitted; control measures and electrical interlocks prevent unintended paralleling. Extra hardware checks synchronisation, and so ware permits parallel closure only when criteria are met. UPS monitoring is optional. The system limits parallel duration before opening the generator breaker and initiating cool-down.
Additional Features
There are multiple additional features that elevate Powerminder beyond standard ATS systems, including:
- Temporary Generator
- Source Priority
- UPS Bypass Protection
- UPS Battery Protection
- Three Strike Protection
- Generator Exercise
